SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph Francis Callahan of Crystal Lake,
4who passed away on March 11, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Callahan was born on September 14, 1928 in
6Chicago; his parents were John and Anne Callahan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joseph Callahan graduated from DePaul University
8in Chicago; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joseph Callahan served his country as a member of
10the United States Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander; and
 
11    WHEREAS, In 1944, Joseph Callahan joined Sears, Roebuck and
12Co., where he held various marketing and finance positions for
1344 years, eventually becoming Director of Headquarters
14Merchandising Systems; after retiring from Sears in 1988, he
15joined the Art Institute of Chicago, where he worked until his
16retirement in 1993; he continued to work with several local
17businesses in the community and volunteered much of his time;
18he also served as co-chair of many groups, in which he found
19time to individually help people going through crisis
20situations; and

1    WHEREAS, Joseph Callahan was the devoted father of Mary
2Eileen (Mark) Pfeiler, Patricia Ann (Edward Ehmpke) Blaida,
3Jeannette Marie Callahan, Joseph Francis (Maria) Callahan,
4Jr., and Julianna Joan Callahan; the beloved grandfather of
5Jason (Karla) Pfeiler, Mark Joseph Pfeiler, Brittina Whiting,
6Leanne Whiting, Michael Ehmpke, and Joseph and Michael
7Callahan; the great-grandfather of Keira, Kiley, Kailynn, and
8Emma; and the dear brother of John (late Rosemary), Patrick
9(Barbara) and Maurice (Yvonne) Callahan, and Mary Rita (late
10James) Joyce; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Joseph Francis
14Callahan; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Joseph Callahan as an expression of
17our sympathy.
