SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John L. "Jack" Sherwood of Crystal Lake,
4who passed away on February 19, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Sherwood was born on May 27, 1927 in Chicago;
6his parents were Joseph and Kathryn Sherwood; he was a graduate
7of St. Leo High School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Sherwood was a proud member of the United
9States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during World
10War II; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Sherwood was the co-owner of Chicago
12Stationers, Inc. in Chicago for 47 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Sherwood was an avid golfer; he also
14volunteered often for Faith in Action and Meals on Wheels; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Sherwood was the recipient of the Bishop's
16Award for his 25 years of service in religious education; and
 
17    WHEREAS, John Sherwood was preceded in death by his
18parents; his first wife, Dolores (nee Mulcahy); his brothers,
19Joseph and James; and his sisters, Rita, Margaret, and

1Patricia; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Sherwood is survived by his loving wife, Mary
3(nee Ringness); his children, William, Jean (Reid) Anderson,
4Dolores (James) Gorski, John (Beth), Terrence (Larry), Timothy
5(Julie), and Carol (Timothy) Kane, James (Maureen) Ringness,
6Kristin (James) Blake, Jennifer (Timothy) Schnepf, and Amy
7(Thomas) Perkins; his grandchildren, Ryan (Liz), Todd
8(Krissy), Andrew, Meghan, Greg, Renee, David, Carolyn, Rachel,
9Kathleen, Jack, Magaret, Ann, Samantha, Marley, Mike, Bridget,
10Emmett, Kevin, Thomas, Lauren, Jana (John), Tara, Michael,
11Christopher, Benjamin, Carly, and Nathan; his
12great-grandchildren, Sadie, Sean, Riley, Courtney, and John
13Paul; his brother, Jeremiah (Sally); his sister, Marilyn (Tom);
14and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
17family and friends, mourn the passing of John L. "Jack"
18Sherwood; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of John Sherwood as an expression of
21our sympathy.
