SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Geraldine "Gerri" E. Wood of Springfield,
4who passed away on February 23, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Geraldine Wood was born on March 17, 1933 in
6Springfield; her parents were Victor and Zenith Heckethorn
7Pearson; she married Roland Wood on February 9, 1952; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Geraldine Wood was a caregiver to special needs
9women for the past 28 years; she also retired as a bakery
10manager at Eagles Food Center after many years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Geraldine Wood was a member of St. Paul's
12Episcopal Church, the Eagles Auxiliary, and the Disabled
13American Veterans Women's Auxiliary; she was also an avid
14supporter and past volunteer of the Special Olympics; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Geraldine Wood enjoyed fishing, gaming, spending
16time with her grandchildren and friends, and watching the
17Fighting Illini and St. Louis Cardinals; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Geraldine Wood was preceded in death by her
19husband, Roland; her parents; her son, David; her 2 brothers;
20and her 4 sisters; and

1    WHEREAS, Geraldine Wood is survived by her daughters,
2Rhonda (Eric Runkel) Wood, Sheila Smith, and Jennifer (Craig)
3Johnson; her son, Dennis (Jessica Greene) Wood; her 14
4grandchildren; her 8 great-grandchildren; her sister, Norma
5Estes; her brother, Don Pearson; and her many nieces, nephews,
6and cousins; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Geraldine "Gerri" E.
10Wood; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Geraldine Wood as an expression of
13our sympathy.
