SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patricia Ann (nee Robinson) Irons of
4Decatur, who passed away on February 5, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Irons was born in Chicago on November 2,
61952 to Julius Anderson and Mattie (nee Johnson) Robinson; she
7graduated from Wendell Phillips Academy High School and she
8married Steven Irons, Jr.; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patricia Irons retired from the Clinton Nuclear
10Power Station in 2002; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Patricia Irons was a member of Church of Christ
12North Jasper in Decatur where she was involved in several
13areas, including serving as Church Information Announcer; she
14had a love of performing and had been a member of the RCC
15Players, an original member of "Phenomenal Women", a member of
16the African-American Community Theatre, and founder and
17President of the Decatur Power Drillers; she was a past member
18of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
19People, a mentor for Dove, Inc.'s Re-entry program, and the
20drill team coach for the Decatur Power Drillers; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Patricia Irons was preceded in death by her

1husband and by her parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Patricia Irons is survived by her daughters,
3Darsonya (Ted) Switzer, Traci Moore, Je'Taun Irons (Lloyd),
4Stephanie (Andre) Horne, and Nichole Irons (Glendale, Sr.); her
5sister, Sandra Robinson; her grandchildren, Steven, Domonique,
6DiAndria, Antoneo, DaMecia, Taelor, LaTajia, Laraven, Edwin,
7Kamen, Erieca, Caprea, Nicholas, Jazmine, DaeLin, Torrica,
8Glendale, Jr., and Ava; her great-grandchildren, Ariauna,
9Joseph, Julian, Journee, D'Laijia, Kylin, Kaydon, Jacari, Ira
10III, and Ilyana; her sister-in-law, Penny Murray; her
11brother-in-law, William E. Irons; her nieces, Michelle,
12Danielle, and Elaan; her nephews, John, Germaine, and Jerel;
13her great-nephew, Darian; a host of family and friends; and a
14very special extended family, the Decatur Power Drillers;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Patricia Ann Irons, and extend our sincere condolences to her
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Patricia Irons as an expression of
23our deepest sympathy.
