SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jim Hansen, South Elgin Village
4President, who passed away on November 1, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was born on July 29, 1960 in Elgin to
6James and Maxine (nee Murphy) Hansen; he married Teri Spencer
7in 1981; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was first elected to the village board
9in 1991, and was elected Village President in 2001; he oversaw
10South Elgin's westward expansion while keeping the "hometown
11feel"; he was instrumental in the development of Concord Park
12and its baseball fields; he also worked as a manager at NAPA
13Auto Parts and in the purchasing department for Kane County;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Hansen always believed his biggest job was to
16be a consensus-builder; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was preceded in death by his father,
18James; his father-in-law, Eugene Spencer; and his faithful
19companion, "Archie"; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim Hansen is survived by his wife, Teri; his

1sons, Dustin (Jennifer), Scott (Shannon), and Daniel (Hana
2Dillon) Hansen; his grandchildren, Aiden, Marcus, Addison, and
3Devin; his mother, Maxine Hansen; his brother, Don (Linda)
4Hansen; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Spencer; and many nieces and
5nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Jim Hansen, South Elgin Village President, and extend our
9sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
10and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jim Hansen as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
