SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carrie Mae Richardson, who passed away on
4September 4, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Richardson was born on October 1, 1916
6in Gilbert, Louisiana; her parents were Rev. Samuel and Camm
7Anderson Johnson; she married Alonzo Charles Richardson in
81936; she and her husband moved to Chicago in the early 1940s;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Richardson was an at-home mom; she also
11worked as a dietician, a preschool teacher, and an in-home
12nursing attendant; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Richardson was a member of numerous
14neighborhood and community organizations; she also served as a
15Cook County election judge for over 40 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Richardson was a faithful member of St.
17James, St. Laurence, Sacred Heart, and St. Benedict the African
18(West) churches; during her membership at Sacred Heart, she
19began her ministerial journey; as a Minister of Care, Lector,
20and Eucharistic Minister, she assisted in developing a share
21food program to help those in need; she also helped with

1housekeeping and care of the church rectory; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Richardson was preceded in death by her
3husband and her children, Beverly Ann and Charles; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Richardson is survived by her children,
5Deacon Leonard M. Richardson (Betty), Russell L. Richardson,
6Elder Katherine Richardson, and Louis E. Richardson; her 16
7grandchildren; her 37 great-grandchildren; her 2
8great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ruth Corbin and
9Hermon Johnson; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Carrie Mae Richardson;
14and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Carrie Mae Richardson as an
17expression of our sympathy.
