SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lilas Jean Beebe of Rockford, who passed
4away on August 14, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lilas Beebe was born on November 19, 1932, in
6Belvidere to Vernon and Marie (Druck) Lowe; she graduated from
7Marengo High School in 1950; she married Harold Beebe on August
816, 1953; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lilas Beebe worked at Marengo High School and
10later as a bank teller at Marengo State Bank (now BMO Harris
11Bank); and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lilas Beebe was active at the First Baptist Church
13in Marengo, where she sung in the church choir; she enjoyed
14spending winters in The Villages retirement community in
15Florida, traveling with her husband to the Holy Land, doing
16crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite TV shows; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lilas Beebe was preceded in death by her husband,
18Harold; her parents; her in-laws, Harry and Oleda Beebe; her
19sister, Marialyce Winkelman; her brother, Vernon Lowe, Jr.; and
20her nephew, John Winkelman; and

1    WHEREAS, Lilas Beebe is survived by her children, Jan
2(Richard) Whitsitt, Jo Ellen Martinson, and Jack (Susan Mayer)
3Beebe; her grandchildren, Jackie (Jason) Dover, Kimberly
4(fiance Clint Burkhart) Whitsitt, Robin (Matt) Fairbanks, and
5Sam Beebe; her great-grandchildren, Jillian, Jessica, and
6Joseph Dover; her nephew, Joe Winkelman, Sr.; her many brothers
7and sisters-in-law; and her nieces and nephews; therefore, be
8it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Lilas Jean Beebe, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Lilas Beebe as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
