SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David Malcolm "Butch" Armstead of
4Bazemore, Alabama, who passed away on February 25, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Armstead was born on August 14, 1943, in
6Waukegan, to Woodson and Earnie (Harris) Armstead; he attended
7Trinity African Methodist Church in Waukegan and gradated from
8North Chicago Community High School in 1961, where he played
9football and basketball; he graduated from Yankton College in
10Yankton, South Dakota, where he also played basketball; he
11served his country in the United States Army from 1966-1971 and
12was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain; he married
13Linda McCollum on March 28, 1969; and
 
14    WHEREAS, David Armstead worked for Johnson & Johnson in
15Chicago in the human resources department and was later
16employed as a manager by the Miller Brewing Company in
17Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and
 
18    WHEREAS, David Armstead relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, in
19the late 1980s and worked in personnel administration; he
20served in the Arizona House of Representatives, representing
21District 23, from 1992 to 1998; and

1    WHEREAS, David Armstead was preceded in death by his
2parents and by his brother, Walter Odell Armstead; and
 
3    WHEREAS, David Armstead is survived by his wife of 43
4years, Linda; his son, David (Denne') Armstead; his daughter,
5Linda (Marques) January; his grandson, Tyler; his
6granddaughter, Taylor; his brother, Robert (Debra) Armstead;
7his sisters, Betty (Ernest) Fisher and Marcia Blassingame; and
8a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be
9it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12David Malcolm "Butch" Armstead, and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of David Armstead as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
