SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Allene Strong of Chicago, who passed away
4on May 24, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Allene Strong was born on May 25, 1906, in Little
6Rock, Arkansas, to Sarah and Roger Brooks; she moved with her
7family to Marvell, Arkansas, and married James Walker; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In 1942, Allene Strong, widowed, moved to Chicago;
9she joined the Carey Tercentenary AME Church in 1943 and was a
10member all of her life; she served on the Annie Huey Missionary
11Society; she married George Strong in 1954 and together they
12enjoyed going to church every Sunday, vacationing, block club,
13and spending time with family and friends; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Allene Strong was preceded in death by her first
15husband, James; her children, Dorothy and James; her second
16husband, George; and her nieces, Irene and Sarah; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Allene Strong is survived by her granddaughters,
18Beverly and Elaine; her great-granddaughter, Erika; her boy,
19James; her niece, Ernestine; and several great-grandchildren
20and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Allene Strong, and extend our sincere condolences to her
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Allene Strong as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
