SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John B. Tipton, who passed away on April
414, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Tipton was born on February 14, 1922, in
6Girard; his parents were Howerton and Nettie Tipton; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Tipton served in the United States Navy
8during World War II; he served on the USS South Dakota, where
9he was injured; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Tipton will be fondly remembered as the
11balloon man; he always brought smiles to people's faces when he
12would give them a balloon animal or bouquet; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Tipton was a past commander of the Lockport
14American Legion John Olson Post #18, a past chaplain of the DAV
15#103, and a member of New Lenox VFW Harry E. Anderson Post
16#9545, Joliet-Matteson Masonic Lodge #175, Ansar Shrine of
17Springfield, and 40-8 Club of Joliet; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Tipton loved to help others and during his
19last years, he raised money from donations for injured service
20members who are presently in veterans' homes; he also worked

1hard to get a veteran's clinic and hospital in Joliet; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Tipton was preceded in death by his wife,
3Loraine; his son, Matthew; and his parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Tipton is survived by his daughter, Patricia
5(Roger) McReynolds; his grandchildren, Roger McReynolds, Randy
6(Heidi Buzay) McReynolds, Rebecca (Joe) Mahon, and Rachel
7(Jason) Ventura; his great-grandchildren, Andrew, Lilith,
8Evelyn, and Riley; and his brother, Henry (Lois Weddle) Tipton;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of John B. Tipton; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of John Tipton as an expression of our
16sympathy.
