SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Felix Macias of Godfrey, who passed away
4on March 20, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Felix Macias was born on January 19, 1936, in
6Alton to Thomas and Dolores (Araujo) Macias; he attended Alton
7public schools and played football for Alton High School,
8graduating in 1954; he received an athletic scholarship to
9Culver Stockton College and was inducted into the school's
10Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005; he married Betty Lou Barry on
11January 13, 1962, in Alton; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Felix Macias taught high school in Palmyra,
13Missouri, for 2 years before teaching at Alton High School,
14retiring in 1998 after 38 years of service; he coached football
15and baseball and taught driver education while at Alton High
16School; he also taught driver education at East Alton-Wood
17River High School for 6 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Felix Macias was an avid sports fan and loved both
19St. Louis Cardinal and Chicago Cubs baseball; he was a member
20of First Christian Church in Alton; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Felis Macias was preceded in death by his parents

1and his brothers, Robert, Ralph, and "Dickie-Boy" Macias; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Felix Macias is survived by his wife, Betty; his
3sons, Mark (Debbie), Barry (Maria), Rob (Lori), and Brian (Amy)
4Macias; his grandchildren, Hillary, Emily, Natalie, Sofia,
5Arie, Alex, Isabella, Issac, Owen, Brody, and Eme Macias; and
6his brothers, Tom and Mike Macias; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Felix Macias, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Felix Macias as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
