SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Hadiya Zaymara Pendleton of Chicago, who
4passed away on January 29, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton was born on June 2, 1997; her
6parents were Anthony and Cleopatra Pendleton; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton accepted the Lord as her personal
8savior at the Christian Covenant Baptist Church; in October of
92007, she and her family joined the Greater Deliverance Temple
10Church of Church; she was also a member of the church's Youth
11and Teen Ministries and worked with the church's Teen Praise
12Dance and nursery; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton began her education at the Small
14Stride Academy; she subsequently attended Schoop Academy,
15Marva Collins, Providence St. Mel, Donoghue (UIC), Carter G.
16Woodson, and Martin Luther King College Prep; she aspired to
17major in pharmacology and journalism in college; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton is survived by her parents; her
19brother, Nathaniel; and her many aunts, uncles, cousins,
20godparents, community parents, and friends; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3her family and friends, the passing of Hadiya Zaymara
4Pendleton; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Hadiya Pendleton as an expression of
7our sympathy.
