SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 1705/18.3

    Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act. Deletes provision that the Department of Human Services shall form a medical advisory panel, appointed by the Secretary, comprised of 5 physicians licensed to practice medicine in all its branches with a special emphasis in treating mental illness, to provide advice on care rendered to patients in any integrated delivery system. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental
5Disabilities Administrative Act is amended by changing Section
618.3 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 1705/18.3)
8    Sec. 18.3. Integrated system for services for the mentally
9ill. The Department shall develop an effective, integrated
10system for delivering State-funded and State-operated services
11to persons with mental illness. No later than June 30, 1994,
12the Department shall enter into one or more cooperative
13arrangements with the Department of Public Aid, the Department
14of Rehabilitation Services, the Department of Public Health,
15and any other appropriate entities for administration or
16supervision by the Department of Mental Health and
17Developmental Disabilities of all State programs for services
18to persons in community care facilities for persons with mental
19illness, including but not limited to intermediate care
20facilities, that are supported by State funds or by funding
21under Title XIX of the federal Social Security Act. The
22Department shall form a medical advisory panel, appointed by
23the Secretary, comprised of 5 physicians licensed to practice

1medicine in all its branches with a special emphasis in
2treating mental illness, to provide advice on care rendered to
3patients in any integrated delivery system. The Department of
4Human Services shall succeed to the responsibilities of the
5Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities and
6the Department of Rehabilitation Services under any such
7cooperative arrangement in existence on July 1, 1997.

9    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
10becoming law.
