HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Oak School in Community
4Consolidated School District 181 on receiving the 2014 National
5Blue Ribbon Schools Award from the United States Department of
6Education for academic excellence; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Oak School is one of 287 public schools in the
8nation to receive the award in 2014, and one of only 13 in the
9State; it is the fifth of 9 schools in District 181 to receive
10the award, joining Clarendon Hills Middle School in 2009,
11Hinsdale Middle School in 2009, Madison School in 2009, and The
12Lane School in 2011; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program
14recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high
15schools where students perform at very high levels or where
16significant improvements are being made in students' academic
17achievement; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The news of Oak School's award was shared with
19students and staff by Principal Martha Henrikson and former
20Principal Sean Walsh, who, according to Principal Henrikson,
21has fostered a culture of collaboration among teachers at the
22school; and

1    WHEREAS, The Oak School community celebrated receiving the
2award as part of their Walk to School Day on October 8, 2014,
3and, in November, an Oak School teacher will join leaders from
4recognized schools across the country in attending a ceremony
5in Washington, D.C.; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we congratulate Oak School in Community Consolidated School
9District 181 on receiving the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools
10Award from the United States Department of Education and wish
11them many more years of academic success; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Oak School as an expression of our esteem and
14respect.
