HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald
4"Jerry" VanWinkle of Peoria, who passed away on August 9, 2013;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle was born on March 23, 1938 in
7Peoria; his parents were John D. and Velda M. (Foster)
8VanWinkle; he married Carol Hagel on October 2, 1970, in
9Havana; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle graduated from Manual High
11School; he subsequently attended Bradley University for
12mechanical engineering; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle retired from Caterpillar as a
14journeyman millwright, working in Research and Development at
15the Mossville Tech Center; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle was a life member of Illinois
17Lodge 263, the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and Mohammed
18Shrine; he was a life member of the Society of Hospitalers, a
19Thrice Potent Master and life member of the Valley of Peoria
20Scottish Rite, and a life member of AMVETS (Army National
21Guard); he was also a member of Midwest Gun Collectors, for

1which he taught basic safety, and Midwest Cruisers Association,
2where he enjoyed showing his 1979 green Ford truck at
3cruise-ins; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle enjoyed spending time at
5Wildlife Prairie Park and with his horses, Bobbie and Sissy;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle was preceded in death by his
8parents and his brother, Ron VanWinkle; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gerald VanWinkle is survived by his wife, Carol;
10his children, Lynn Kerley, Mark (DiAnna) Kerley, Jerry (Kelly)
11Kerley, and Michelle (Rob) Banta; his 11 grandchildren; his 7
12great-grandchildren; his niece, Rhonda Dyess; and his
13sister-in-law, Kay VanWinkle; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of
17Gerald "Jerry" VanWinkle; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Gerald VanWinkle as an expression of
20our sympathy.
