HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Walter
4Boykin Jr. of Chicago; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr. was born on November 24, 1936,
6in Russell, Alabama, to Walter Boykin Sr. and Lucy Howard; he
7was the last of 7 siblings consisting of 4 girls and 3 boys; he
8graduated from Wells High School and received a certificate in
9Christian Education from Moody Bible Institute; he was married
10to Alma for 57 years and they had 3 boys and one girl; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr. was employed at National Tea for
1221 years and retired from Kraft Foods after 20 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr. was a member of Union Missionary
14Baptist Church for 42 years; he served in the following
15ministries: chairman of Deacon Board Emeritus, trustee, bible
16teacher, Sunday school teacher, and mission bible teacher; he
17served in the Illinois State Convention as a bible teacher for
18the Brotherhood; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr.'s pastimes included studying
20and researching the word of God; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we mourn the passing of Walter Boykin, and extend our sincere
4condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
5him; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Walter Boykin Jr. as an expression
8of our deepest sympathy.
