HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The recent school shooting at Sandy Hook
3Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, highlights the need to
4improve security at our nation's public schools; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Security at our State's public schools could be
6vastly increased if State and local law enforcement agencies
7and public school districts cooperated with one another to
8increase the presence of law enforcement officials in and
9around public schools; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we encourage State and local law enforcement agencies and
13public school districts in the State to cooperate with one
14another to establish school walk-through programs that would
15permit State and local law enforcement officials to more
16frequently stop and walk through public school properties
17during their patrols and thereby increase the security of those
18properties; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
20delivered to each regional superintendent of schools, the
21President of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association, the President
22of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and the
