SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
775 ILCS 5/7-109.1  from Ch. 68, par. 7-109.1

    Amends the Illinois Human Rights Act. Provides that for charges filed under the Article relating to procedures of the Department of Human Rights in cases concerning employment, financial credit, public accommodations, education, and additional civil rights violations, the Department shall administratively close allegations pending before the Department if the issues which are the basis of those allegations are being litigated in a State or federal court proceeding. Provides that for charges filed under the Article relating to procedures of the Department of Human Rights in cases concerning real estate transactions, the Department shall administratively close allegations pending before the Department after the beginning of the trial of a civil action, commenced by an aggrieved party under any State of federal law, seeking relief with respect to those allegations.

1    AN ACT concerning human rights.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Human Rights Act is amended by
5changing Section 7-109.1 as follows:

7    Sec. 7-109.1. Federal or State Court Proceedings. For
8charges filed under Article 7A of this Act, the The Department
9shall may administratively close allegations a charge pending
10before the Department if the issues which are the basis of
11those allegations the charge are being litigated in a State or
12federal court proceeding. For charges filed under Article 7B of
13this Act, the Department shall administratively close
14allegations pending before the Department after the beginning
15of the trial of a civil action, commenced by an aggrieved party
16under any State of federal law, seeking relief with respect to
17those allegations.
