SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Helen Heier of Vernon Hills,
4who passed away on November 26, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen Heier was born in Kansas City on December 6,
61924, to Orpha Chrisman; she married James Heier; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Helen Heier was active in the community,
8organizing the Vernon Hills Fishing Derby for over 35 years;
9the tournament was later named in her honor; she was known as
10the "lunch lady" at Hawthorn Middle School, where she worked
11for 19 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Helen Heier honored this country's veterans and
13firmly believed in treating them as the heroes that they are;
14she loved watching basketball games and could hold
15conversations with the most devoted fans; she was a trivia
16mastermind and could regularly outsmart the Jeopardy
17champions; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Helen Heier was preceded in death by her mother,
19Orpha Chrisman and her daughter, Darlene (the late Clair)
20Rairigh; and

1    WHEREAS, Helen Heier is survived by her husband of 67
2years, James; her children, Steven (Barbara), Richard
3(Patricia), and Diana; and her 16 grandchildren and 2
4great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Helen Heier, and we extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Helen Heier as expression of our
12sincere condolences.
