SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" E. Sewell, who
4passed away on November 8, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Sewell was born in Alton on July 8, 1933,
6to George and Celestine (Noblitt) Sewell; he married Margie
7Crayne in September of 1955 and, following her death, Nancy
8Massar in September of 2004; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gerald Sewell served his country in the U.S. Army
10and was an active member of VFW Post 1308 in Alton; he was also
11a scoutmaster and a member of the Evangelical United Church of
12Christ, the Alton Municipal Band, the Bunker Hill Kiwanis Club,
13Shriner's International-York Rite Bodies, Franklin Masonic
14Lodge No. 25 AF & AM, the Alton Area Antique Association, and
15the Alton Salvation Army; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gerald Sewell was preceded in death by his
17parents, George and Celestine Sewell; his first wife, Margie
18Crayne; and his brother, George W. Sewell; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Gerald Sewell is survived by his second wife,
20Nancy Massar; his son, William "Bill" (Dionne) Sewell; his
21sister, Sandy Strohmeier; his brother-in-law, Ray (Julie)

1Massar; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Gerald Sewell, and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Gerald Sewell as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
