SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Ken J. McNatt, who died on
4September 4, 2012, at the age of 91; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken McNatt was born and grew up in Loveland,
6Colorado; he joined the Navy in 1942, following the attack on
7Pearl Harbor, and became a naval pilot in the Pacific theater;
8he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart,
9six Air Medals, the Navy Commendation, the Navy Unit
10Commendation, and American, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and
11World War II victory medals; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ken McNatt finished college after the war,
13receiving his degree from Denver University in 1948; he began
14working in sales for the Exxon Corporation, retiring in 1983;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ken McNatt moved to Wheaton in 1965, and began a
17lifetime of public service which included: president of the
18Arrowhead Homeowners Association, precinct committeeman for 12
19years, Milton Township trustee for 16 years, founding
20chairperson for the Milton Township Seniors and Law Enforcement
21Together (SALT), and member of the Warrenville VFW Post 8081;
22his most beloved work was serving with the Warrenville Fire

1Protection District for over 36 years, where he transformed the
2unit from a solely volunteer fire protection agency to a modern
3blend of volunteers and staff, with modern equipment to meet
4the needs of a growing community; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken McNatt has received numerous awards
6throughout his years of public service including the Illinois
7State TRIAD Award (2002), the Milton Township Achievement Award
8(2002), the Wheaton Good Citizen Award (2009), the Illinois
9Department Veterans Affairs' "Veteran of the Month" (September
102011), the Milton Township Appreciation Award (2012), and the
11Trustee Emeritus, Warrenville Fire Protection District (2012);
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ken McNatt is survived by his wife of 58 years,
14Dolores; his daughters, Gwen (Chuck Enokian) McNatt and Mary
15Helen (Bob) Gibson; his 6 grandchildren; his great-grandchild;
16and his three nieces and a nephew; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Ken McNatt, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
