SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of George Murray Jr. of Peoria
4Heights, who passed away on July 25, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. was born on August 21, 1937, in
6Joliet, to George Sr. and Dorothy "Billie" (Grief) Murray; he
7married Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Henseler on August 23, 1958; and
 
8    WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. graduated from Spalding
9Institute in 1955, and earned a master's degree in business
10administration from Bradley University; he served his country
11in the U.S. Army; he was stationed at McCord Air Force Base in
12Tacoma, Washington, and was an analyst with the ARADCOM Missile
13Program; he worked for his father at George Murray Tire Co. and
14later was president of Mechanical Rubber & Supply, Peoria
15Suppliers Inc., and Murray's Jewelers and Distributors; and
 
16    WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. enjoyed helping others to start
17their own business and supported the fine arts in the Peoria
18area; he sat on many boards, including Junior Achievement, The
19Jefferson Bank, and the Tri-County Regional Planning
20Commission; he was chairman of the CICCA Golf Association; he
21was a member of St. Thomas Parish; and

1    WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. was preceded in death by his
2parents, George Sr. and Dorothy Murray and his brother, Michael
3A. Murray; and
 
4    WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. is survived by his wife, Mary
5Elizabeth; his children, Brian (Joanne) Murray and Michelle
6(Kai) Larson; his brothers, John T. (Marjorie) Murray and
7Patrick J. (Mary) Murray; his sister, Sharon (Jim) Lysaught;
8his grandchildren: Robert, Brianne, and Alex Murray, and Lyman,
9Lauren, and Kamaryn Larson; and several nieces and nephews;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13George Murray Jr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of George Murray Jr. as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
