SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert W. "Rob" Pullen of Naperville,
4formerly of Niles, who passed away on July 2, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was born on May 29, 1962, in Oak
6Lawn; he married Dawn Amendola on September 16, 1988; he was a
7resident of Naperville since 1988 and was a member of SS. Peter
8and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert Pullen grew up in Niles, where he was a
10parishioner and student at Our Lady of Ransom; after graduating
11from Maine East High School in Park Ridge in 1980, he earned
12his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with an
13emphasis in physics from the University of Illinois; in 1993,
14he earned his MBA in management from the Northwestern
15University Kellogg School of Business; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Robert Pullen served as CEO and President of
17Tellabs, Inc. and was a member of the company's Board of
18Directors; after joining the company right out of college in
191985 as an electrical engineer, he worked his way up the
20corporate ladder to become Chief Executive Officer in 2008
21after holding positions in development, sales, marketing, and
22services; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Pullen served as the chairman emeritus of
2the executive board for the Telecommunications Industry
3Association and was a former co-chair for SuperComm; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Robert Pullen excelled at baseball and played as
5the starting shortstop for the University of Illinois at
6Urbana-Champaign for 4 years; he coached his son's Naperville
7Little League Cardinals to win the city championship in 2007;
8he served as a coach of the Naperville White Sox Travel
9Baseball Team; he also enjoyed traveling the world, boating,
10water and snow skiing, snowmobiling, and spending time with his
11family at their lake house in Green Lake, Wisconsin; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Pullen was the beloved husband of Dawn; the
13loving father of Brittany and Brendan Pullen; the devoted son
14of Robert and Mary Kay Pullen; the dear brother of Jim (Kim)
15Pullen, Sharon Varco, Jack Pullen, and Mike (Lisa) Pullen; the
16fond brother-in-law of Keith (Mary) Amendola, Craig (Diane)
17Amendola, and Krista (Dan Fagan) Amendola; and the adored uncle
18of 18 wonderful nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
21his family and friends, the passing of Robert W. "Rob" Pullen;
22and be it further
