SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Annie Jean Cobbins of Madison, formerly
4of Chicago, who passed away on May 22, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born on December 30, 1956, in Isola,
6Mississippi, the daughter of Ella B. and Annie B. (Wilson)
7Cobbins; she attended Beethoven Elementary School and
8graduated from Jean Baptiste DuSable High School in Chicago;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Old
11Ship of Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend
12Otis L. Anderson Jr.; and
 
13    WHEREAS, She worked for the City of Chicago Park District
14and Housing Authority for many years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, She was very outspoken; she was an avid sports fan
16and enjoyed music, concerts, festivals, reading, and spending
17time with her grandchildren and friends; and
 
18    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandmother,
19Annie Spann; and her brother, Robert Earl Wilson; and

1    WHEREAS, Annie Jean Cobbins is survived by her sons,
2Taurice (Lyn-Nell) Cobbins and Keyawn (Jeanetta)
3Davis-Cobbins; her stepchildren, Shojonae (Sean) and Deshawn;
4her grandchildren, Octavia Phillips Burton, Keanna Burton,
5Keyawn Burton, Drekwon Smith, Keyavian Walker-Cobbins, and
6Keymarion Cobbins; her parents; her siblings, Sammie Spann,
7Roger (Cherry) Spann, Georgia Pope, Brenda (Lane) Miller, and
8Arrie Wilson; her great aunt, Willie Bell; her aunts, Emma,
9Bernice (Bryant), Elder Lenora, and Evangelist Simmons
10(Lenard); her uncle, Matthew (Ida); her nieces and nephews,
11Justin Pope, Julian Pope, Dyvonna Miller, Nathaniel Miller, and
12Ginger Jones; and numerous other relatives and friends;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16her family and friends, the passing of Annie Jean Cobbins; and
17be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Annie Jean Cobbins as a symbol of
20our sincere sympathy.
