SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ralph M. "Mike" Martin of Aurora, who
4passed away on December 22, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on October 5, 1944 in Aurora; he
6proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and graduated
7from Wabaunsee Community College in 1976 with an Associates
8Degree in Criminal Justice; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He had a long career as a Sergeant for the Aurora
10Police Department from 1967 to 1999; after retiring he went on
11to work for Kane County in the Court Security Division and then
12as security officer for several years at the Illinois Math and
13Science Academy; and
 
14    WHEREAS, His joys in life were playing golf, softball, and
15cards with his friends; he served on the Aurora Police Pension
16Fund Board for 8 years and was is a lifetime member of the
17Police Benevolent and Protective Association and the Fraternal
18Order of Police; and
 
19    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph M.
20and Mary (McDonald) Martin Sr; his in-laws, Worley and Alice
21(Weber) Goodlet; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Elizabeth

1(Hennen) Martin; and his maternal grandparents, William and
2Eliza (Roderfer) McDonald; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ralph Martin is survived by his wife of 45 years
4Janet (Goodlet) Martin; his son, Scott (Teresa) Martin; his
5daughter, Virginia (Jeremy) Eisenberg; his granddaughter,
6Ashlee Martin; his step-grandson, Jordly Arreola; his
7brothers, Fred (Elaine) Martin, James (Dory) Martin, Richard
8(Maria) Martin, and Tony Martin; his brother-in-law, Dennis
9(Donna) Goodlet; his niece and several nephews; and his best
10buddy, his dog Max; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13his family and friends, the passing of Ralph Martin; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ralph Martin as a symbol of our
17sincere sympathy.
