SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Peter Andrew Tomaras of Glen Ellyn, who
4passed away on December 28, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras was born in Oak Park in 1952; he
6earned his bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from
7Elmhurst College in 1975; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras began his legal career as a docket
9clerk at the law firm formerly known as Wildman, Harrold,
10Allen, and Dixon; after studying law at night at The John
11Marshall Law School, he earned his law degree in 1981; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras was a litigation partner at Edwards,
13Wildman, Palmer LLC; during his career, he represented
14different pharmaceutical companies in childhood vaccine
15litigation during the 1980s and served as national trial
16counsel for Wyeth in its fen-phen diet drug litigation; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras was a past president of Holy
18Apostles Church, the Glen Ellyn Library Board, and the Raintree
19Homeowners Association; he was also a past board member of the
20Institute of Human Development, the Ray Graham Association, and
21Glen Ellyn Baseball; and

1    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras served as a coach with numerous Glen
2Ellyn athletic programs for over 3 decades; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras enjoyed hunting, fishing, and
4golfing; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras was preceded in death by his mother,
6Betty Tomaras; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Peter Tomaras is survived by his wife, Zoe Ann;
8his children, Andrew (Jill), Cassie, Alexis, (fiance, Brandon
9Miller) and Michael; his grandchildren, Peter and Sophia; his
10father, Dr. Andrew P. Tomaras; and his sisters, Margo (Neil
11Prendergast) Tomaras and Allison Tomaras; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Peter Andrew Tomaras;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Peter Tomaras as an expression of
18our sympathy.
