SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John M. Wulfers, who passed away on
4December 2, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Manning Wulfers was born on April 28, 1947,
6in Morristown, New Jersey; he graduated from the University of
7Wisconsin-Madison and from the Southern Methodist University
8School of Law; he began his legal career as a felony trial
9prosecutor in Rochester, New York, before moving to Chicago and
10entering private law practice in the Loop; and
 
11    WHEREAS, For 30 years until his retirement at the end of
122010, Mr. Wulfers represented reinsurers and insurers from the
13United States, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, and
14continental Europe who faced enormous financial pressures from
15the nationwide toxic tort litigation, massive surety claims,
16and other complex commercial disputes; and
 
17    WHEREAS, He loved traveling with his beloved wife, Nancy,
18all over the United States and to many foreign countries; he
19loved fly fishing in Montana, deep sea fishing in Hawaii, and
20Arizona spring training trips with his son, Ted; he and his
21wife supported Chicago's performing arts and enjoyed musical
22performances in cities throughout the United States and abroad;

2    WHEREAS, He was a passionate sports enthusiast, attending
3numerous NFL Championships and Super Bowls, the World Series,
4NCAA Final Four, soccer's World Cup Final and England's FA Cup
5Final, Triple Crown Thoroughbred races, PGA major
6championships, and Ryder Cup matches; he and his father were
750-year season ticket holders of the New York Football Giants;
8throughout his life, he relished playing many of the world's
9greatest golf courses and enjoyed attending Big 10 football
10games, avidly supporting his wife's Northwestern Wildcats and
11his own beloved Wisconsin Badgers; and
 
12    WHEREAS, He served in a United States Navy aviation
13squadron that tracked foreign nuclear submarines throughout
14the North Atlantic in the late 1960s; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, John W.
16Wulfers; and
 
17    WHEREAS, John Wulfers is survived by his beloved wife,
18Nancy; his son, Ted; his mother, Dorothy; and his sister,
19Melinda Russell (James); therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
