SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael Patrick Dentino of Peoria, who
4passed away on December 14, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was born on October 3, 1930, in
6Peoria; he was the son of Michael and Arnita (Barto) Dentino;
7he married Margaret C. Crowley on October 23, 1954, at St. Mark
8Catholic Church in Peoria; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino earned his bachelors degree in
10chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame,
11graduating magna cum laude; he was also a varsity letterman on
12the Notre Dame fencing team and was named the University of
13Notre Dame (Peoria Chapter) Man of the Year in 1973; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was employed in various
15managerial positions with Caterpillar Inc.; he retired as
16Caterpillar's Manager of U.S. Sales Support after 33 years of
17service; he then served as the Vice President of Sales for
18Gibbs-Cook Equipment Company in Des Moines and served on the
19board of directors for Aggregate Equipment & Supply Company in
20East Peoria; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino served as vice president of the

1Bradley University Leadership Development Center and as the
2adjunct professor of comedy at Bradley; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was an active member of the Peoria
4Players Theatre, CAT Chorus, Conklin's Dinner Theatre,
5Zellmer's Dinner Theatre, Peoria Ballet, Tazwood Dance
6Company, and Peoria Corn Stock Theatre, where he was a charter
7member; he also served on the Chagrin Falls Little Theatre
8Board and the Planning Committee for the National Comedy Hall
9of Fame; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was a parishioner of St. Thomas
11the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights and was a lector
12at both St. Thomas and St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino was preceded in death by his wife,
14Margaret; his parents; and his sister, Dianna Basso; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Michael Dentino is survived by his children,
16Michael III (Debra Duzinskas), Deirdre (Gregory) Clemons,
17Domine (John) King, Dianna (John Gielow), Dr. Andrew (Monica),
18D'Arcy Conley, Matthew, Father Darren, Douglas (Terilyn), and
19Dr. Daniel Dentino; his sisters, Grace Kelly and Sue O'Donnell;
20his brothers, Dr. Mauro Dentino, Verne Dentino, and Vernon
21Dentino; his 35 grandchildren; and his great-grandson;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3his family and friends, the passing of Michael Patrick Dentino;
4and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Michael Dentino as an expression of
7our sympathy.
