SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard E. "Rick" Minwegen of Gurnee, who
4passed away on December 9, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette in
61980 and was a graduate of the University of Illinois
7Champaign-Urbana School of Business Administration and
8Commerce in 1984; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He worked for CUNA Mutual as a certified financial
10planner, and was a professional scuba diving instructor with 7
11specialty certifications; he was an avid outdoorsman and
12adventurous spirit; his greatest pleasures and motivation were
13his boys; he loved watching and supporting his children through
14their spiritual development, studies, and play; his boys enjoy
15playing football, basketball, soccer, and track; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was an inspiration to his boys, family, and
17friends throughout his courageous and long battle with
18Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease); and
 
19    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and
20Ann Minwegen; and his sister, Marianne; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Minwegen was the loving and dedicated
2father of Christopher and Miles; he is survived by his sisters,
3Jacqueline (John) Hopkins and Patricia (Mark) Aijian; his
4brothers, Peter, Jr. (Bobbie Stiles) Minwegen, Thomas (Martha)
5Minwegen, and Andrew (Debbie) Minwegen; and many nieces and
6nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9his family and friends, the passing of Richard Minwegen; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Richard Minwegen as a symbol of our
13sincere sympathy.
