SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Darrell Madison of Edwardsville,
4who passed away on December 6, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Madison was born on August 10, 1937, in
6Pleasant Hill; he was the son of the late William and Cordelia
7(Zumwalt) Madison; he married Carol Ann Layton on November 21,
81956; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Madison was a graduate of Edwardsville
10High School and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville;
11he subsequently moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he
12worked as the Program Director at Louisiana State University
13from 1964 to 1966; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard Madison served as director of the student
15center at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where
16he worked from 1966 until 1992; he was the director of student
17housing at the university at the time of his retirement; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Madison served as an Edwardsville City
19Alderman for 14 years; he served on the Board of the
20Edwardsville Public Library, where he was heavily involved in
21the construction of the library's new addition; he was also a

1member of the ESIC Baptist Church and the Edwardsville Rotary
2Club; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard Madison is survived by his wife; his son,
4Richard D. (Nina) Madison II; his daughters, Marilyn L. (Chris)
5Collins and Nicole B. Madison; his grandchildren, Richard Paul
6(Marci) Madison, Christina Nicole (Brett) Sheroky, and
7Christopher and Adam Collins; and his great-grandchildren,
8Richard Tanner Madison and Colton Ryan Madison; therefore, be
9it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Richard Darrell Madison;
13and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Richard Madison as an expression of
16our sympathy.
