SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal
4Nickolas Daniels of Elmwood Park, who passed away on November
55, 2011; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Nickolas Daniels graduated from
7St. Patrick High School in Chicago in 2004; he excelled in
8sports, especially football, where he played linebacker and
9made All-Conference his senior year; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After high school, Lance Corporal Nickolas
11Daniels went to college for a semester, but found out it was
12not for him; he then worked several jobs in Elmwood Park and
13coached football at his high school alma mater, but decided to
14join the United States Marine Corps because he believed it
15would help him reach his goal of becoming a police officer; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Nickolas Daniels served his
17country with pride as a member of the 3rd Combat Engineer
18Battalion of the 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary
19Force out of Twentynine Palms, California; after graduating
20from basic training in January of 2010, he was sent on his
21first deployment as a combat engineer on September 4, 2011; and

1    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Nickolas Daniels is survived by his
2parents, Greg and Debi; his siblings, Kati, Billy, and Lonny
3Daniels; and his fiancee, Katie O'Neil; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Nickolas Daniels' patriotism and
5courage will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his
6fellow soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of United States Marine
11Corps Lance Corporal Nickolas Daniels; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Lance Corporal Nickolas Daniels as
14an expression of our sympathy.
