SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, On December 17, 1968, Illinois State Police
3officer Floyd J. Farrar was assisting a motorist with a flat
4tire on Illinois Route 103 when he was struck by a second
5vehicle traveling in the opposite direction; the impact killed
6Trooper Farrar instantly; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Trooper Farrar served his country with pride and
8distinction in the United States military during World War II;
9he began his career with the Illinois State Police on October
104, 1945 and served with integrity for 23 years before his
11untimely death; and
 
12    WHEREAS, It is fitting to honor Trooper Farrar with a
13suitable memorial to his sacrifice in the line of duty;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate Illinois
17Route 103 in Schuyler County as the Trooper Floyd J. Farrar
18Memorial Highway; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
20is requested to erect, consistent with State and federal
21regulations, signs displaying the name of the Trooper Floyd J.

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3delivered to the family of Floyd J. Farrar as a symbol of our
4esteem and respect.
