SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Willie Albert Hooker, Jr., who passed
4away on September 19, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on October 13, 1948 in Lexington,
6Holmes County, Mississippi to Willie Albert Hooker, Sr. and
7Beatrice Hooker; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and
9united with St. Peter Rock Church; he graduated from Lexington
10Attendance Center; he was drafted into the United States Army
11and joined the Army Reserve, serving his country for 13 years;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, He attended Saints Community College; he married
14Olivia, his high school sweetheart, and they enjoyed 40 years
15together; he worked for Fleetwood Homes, earning multiple
16certificates for his accomplishments and retiring as a
17supervisor; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
19brothers, Jessie, Luntie, and Mack Hooker; his sister,
20Ernestine Greer; his sister-in-law, Margie Hooker; and his
21brother-in-law, L.C. Patton; and

1    WHEREAS, Willie Albert Hooker, Jr. is survived by his wife,
2Olivia; his daughters, Teresa (Reginald), Beatrice (Marvin),
3and Lucretia (Charles); his son, Willie Albert (Melissa); his
4sisters, Betsey (Joe) Crockwell, Elizabeth Greer, and Patricia
5(Robert) Travis; his brothers, Henry (Susie) and Robert Hooker;
6his sisters-in-law, Vernetta Hooker, Louisville Marcus, Meta
7Patton, Rosie Levy, and Juanita Patton; his brother-in-law,
8Clarence Patton; his 9 grandchildren; and a host of nieces,
9nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Willie Albert Hooker,
13Jr.; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Willie Albert Hooker, Jr. as a
16symbol of our sincere sympathy.
