SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lois Solomon of Wilmette, who passed away
4on April 25, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lois Solomon was a Chicago native; she attended
6the University of Chicago and earned her undergraduate degree
7and law degree in five years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, While in law school, Lois Solomon met the love of
9her life, Arthur Solomon; after the two married, they began
10their law careers and shared their love of politics, books, and
11friends; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1972, Lois Solomon and her husband moved with
13their young children to Wilmette and quickly became involved in
14local North Shore politics; she was actively involved with the
15New Trier Democrats; she also served as an election judge and
16was instrumental in saving Mallinkrodt from development; and
 
17    WHEREAS, An avid gardener, Lois Solomon enjoyed gardening,
18painting, her monthly lunches with the Sewing Circle ladies,
19spending time with her children and grandchildren, and reading;

1    WHEREAS, Lois Solomon is survived by her son, Adam, and his
2children, Theodore and Nicholas Solomon; her daughter,
3Elizabeth Hubbard, her son-in-law, Jeffrey Hubbard, and their
4children, Frances and Wyatt Hubbard; and her sister, Charlotte
5Adelman, and brother-in-law, Bernard Schwartz; therefore, be
6it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9her family and friends, the passing of Lois Solomon; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Lois Solomon as an expression of our
13sympathy.
