SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Zelma Marble Sims Parker of Waukegan, who
4passed away on March 17, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born August 6, 1947 in Waukegan, to the
6late Essie Mae Glover-Duty and Melvin Sims Sr.; she accepted
7Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Shiloh Baptist
8Church of Waukegan; and
 
9    WHEREAS, She received her education through the North
10Chicago Public School System; she worked at various places,
11including Abbott Laboratories, and provided in-home Child
12Care; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In August of 1996, she married Rodney Parker; and
 
14    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents;
15grandparents; a sister, Gloria Duty Woods; several aunts;
16uncles; and cousins; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Zelma Parker is survived by her loving and devoted
18husband, Rodney Parker; her daughter, Valerie (Mark) Carter;
19one granddaughter, Candace Carter; her stepson, Rodney Parker
20Jr.; her stepdaughter, Sytoria Parker; her step-grandson,

1A'yonn Parker; her sisters, Francine Duty-Jones and Patricia
2(Jarrett) Taylor; her brother, Melvin (Krista) Sims; her
3mother-in-law, Eddie Mae Parker; her sisters-in-law, Ida
4Cowin, Willie Jean Tilton, and Sabrina Parker; her
5brothers-in-law, James Woods and Willie (Fannie) Parker; her
6aunt, Louise Sims; her uncle, James "Buddy" Pruitt; her 5
7godchildren, Andre Shaw, Pamela Stith, Jamal Foster, Mary Jude,
8and Christopher Jude; her oldest and dear friend, Ophelia
9Foster; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins,
10extended family, and friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13her family and friends, the passing of Zelma Marble Sims
14Parker; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Zelma Marble Sims Parker as a symbol
17of our sincere sympathy.
