SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Walter Turner Edwards, who passed away on
4November 14, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Walter Edwards was born on November 11, 1931, in
6Waukegan; his parents were Walter P. Edwards and Mattie Turner
7Edwards; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Walter Edwards served his country with pride and
9distinction as a member of the United States Navy during the
10Korean War; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Walter Edwards attended Waukegan public schools;
12he subsequently earned his degree in business administration
13from Carthage College; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Walter Edwards retired as Director of Finance and
15Treasurer of the Waukegan School District in 1996 after many
16years of service; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Walter Edwards was a member of the First United
18Methodist Church in Waukegan, AARP Chapter 150, the Waukegan
19Little Fort Lions Club, and the American Legion; he was also
20involved in the annual crop walk; and

1    WHEREAS, Walter Edwards was preceded in death by his
2parents and his brothers-in-law, Lloyd Coad and William Bald;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Walter Edwards is survived by his wife, Betty; his
5daughters, Carolyn (David) Stover and Andrea (Patrick)
6Pekkarinen; his grandchildren, Kate and Kevin Pekkarinen and
7Melissa Stover; his sister, Barbara (Everette) Coad/Johnson;
8his brother-in-law, Robert Jordan; his sister-in-law, Alice
9Bald; his nephews, Daryl and Dan Coad; his niece, Susie Brown;
10and his many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Walter Turner Edwards;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Walter Edwards as an expression of
18our sympathy.
