SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael J. Gallo of Benld, who passed
4away on February 25, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Gallo was born on April 25, 1923, in
6Hillsboro; his parents were Joseph Enrico Gallo and Angelina
7(Scopel) Gallo; he married Ethel (Kozak) Gallo on May 13, 1950,
8in Benld; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Michael Gallo served his country with pride and
10distinction as a member of the United States Army during World
11War II; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Michael Gallo was a graduate of Benld High School;
13he subsequently earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical
14engineering from the University of Illinois; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Michael Gallo was employed with the United States
16Postal Service as the Postmaster in Benld from 1948 until his
17retirement in 1986; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Michael Gallo was a member of the Benld Rotary
19Club, the VFW, and the American Legion in Litchfield; he was
20also a former member of the Benld Volunteer Fire Department;

2    WHEREAS, Michael Gallo was preceded in death by his
3parents; his son, Michael James Gallo, Jr.; and his brothers,
4Albert Gallo and Raymond Gallo; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Gallo is survived by his spouse, Ethel
6Gallo; his son, James (Shawn) Gallo; his daughter, Jayne
7(Joseph) Corvallis; and his grandchildren, Heather Gallo,
8Jamie Gardner, Marissa Corvallis, and Jordan Corvallis;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Michael J. Gallo; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Michael Gallo as an expression of
16our sympathy.
