SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Irmil H. "Monty" Montgomery of Hinsdale,
4who passed away on January 22, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born March 12, 1918, in La Harpe; he
6volunteered for service during World War II and served with the
7Army Air Corps, where he learned to teach pilots to fly with
8instruments using the Link Trainer; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After the war he worked for Trans World Airlines
10and later started his own business, Aviation Training
11Enterprises in 1947; the business grew, with offices being
12added at the Midway, O'Hare, and DuPage Airports; the business
13later became known as ATE-American Flyers and today is known as
14American Flyers, with offices across the United States; Mr.
15Montgomery retired from the business in the 1990s; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was one of the founding members of the Salt
17Creek Club; he played tennis for many years; he was a member of
18the Ruth Lake Country Club and the Hinsdale Golf Club, where he
19loved to golf; he was also an avid bridge player and played
20regularly at the Graue Mill Country Condominium club house; and
 
21    WHEREAS, He had lived at the Graue Mill Country Condominium

1since 1979; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Irmil Montgomery is survived by his daughter,
3Sandra (David) Hadley; his grandchildren, Todd, Jill, and Jeff
4Harrington; his brother, Arthur Montgomery; his sister, Erva
5Wilson; his nephews, Scott and Courtney Wilson; and his
6step-granddaughter, Nina Hadley; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9his family and friends, the passing of Irmil Montgomery; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Irmil Montgomery as a symbol of our
13sincere sympathy.
