SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
50 ILCS 705/3  from Ch. 85, par. 503

    Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Provides that one member of a Mobile In-Service Training Unit shall be appointed to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, and removes the requirement that the Director of the Illinois Police Training Institute serve on the Board. Effective January 1, 2012.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 19 members selected
9as follows: The Attorney General of the State of Illinois, the
10Director of State Police, the Director of Corrections, the
11Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, the Sheriff of
12Cook County, one member of a Mobile Team In-Service Training
13Unit, as defined in Section 2 of the Intergovernmental Law
14Enforcement Officer's In-Service Training Act the Director of
15the Illinois Police Training Institute, the Special Agent in
16Charge of the Springfield, Illinois, division of the Federal
17Bureau of Investigation, the Executive Director of the Illinois
18Board of Higher Education and the following to be appointed by
19the Governor: 2 mayors or village presidents of Illinois
20municipalities, 2 Illinois county sheriffs from counties other
21than Cook County, 2 managers of Illinois municipalities, 3
22chiefs of municipal police departments in Illinois having no
23Superintendent of the Police Department on the Board and 2

1citizens of Illinois who shall be members of an organized
2enforcement officers' association which has no other members on
3the Board other than the chief of a municipal police
4department, the Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of
5Investigation, the Director of State Police, a county sheriff
6or deputy sheriff. The appointments of the Governor shall be
7made on the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of the
8appointments to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years, and
93 for 3 years. Their successors shall be appointed in like
10manner for terms to expire the first Monday of August each 3
11years thereafter. All members shall serve until their
12respective successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies
13shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms.

15    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
