SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 3605/54 new
70 ILCS 3615/2.40 new

    Amends the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act and the Regional Transportation Authority Act. Provides that, on and after the effective date of the amendatory Act, the Regional Transportation Authority, Chicago Transit Authority, Commuter Rail Division, and Suburban Bus Division must procure goods and professional services in a manner substantially in accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Procurement Code to the extent applicable.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Act is
5amended by adding Section 54 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 3605/54 new)
7    Sec. 54. Procurement of goods and professional services.
8Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, on and
9after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th
10General Assembly, the Authority must procure goods and
11professional services in a manner substantially in accordance
12with the requirements of the Illinois Procurement Code to the
13extent applicable.
 
14    Section 10. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
15amended by adding Section 2.40 as follows:
 
16    (70 ILCS 3615/2.40 new)
17    Sec. 2.40. Procurement of goods and professional services.
18Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, on and
19after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th
20General Assembly, the Authority and each of the Service Boards
21must procure goods and professional services in a manner
