HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Vickie L.
4(Schnake) Niederhofer of Hoyleton, who passed away on September
54, 2012; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer was born on July 6, 1954, to
7Richard and Imogene (Bierman) Schnake; she graduated from
8Centralia High School in 1972 and attained a registered nursing
9degree from Kaskaskia College in 1974; she married Joe
10Niederhofer in 1975; she obtained a bachelor of science degree
11in nursing from McKendree College in 1994; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer worked as a Cottage Nurse at
13Murray's Children Center from 1974 to 1985; she became Unit
14Director and eventually Murray Center Director for 5 years; she
15was Murray Center Administrator from 1985-1993, Residential
16Services Director from 1993-2000, and Facility Director from
172000-2004; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer attended Zion United Church of
19Christ in Hoyleton; she was secretary of the Washington County
20Food Pantry and loved spending time with her family and
21friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer was well-respected for her
2outspoken advocacy and knowledge of Murray Center and the needs
3of its residents; she was a tireless fighter to keep Murray
4Center open and spearheaded efforts to build a coalition of
5parents, employees, and community leaders for that cause; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Vicki Niederhofer will be remembered for her
7endless compassion and care for those who resided at Murray
8Center and their family and for the compassionate treatment for
9those suffering from mental illness across the State; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Vickie Niederhofer is survived by her sons, Travis
11Niederhofer (Stephanie House) and Adam Niederhofer (Ayla
12Thorp); her brother, Randy Schnake (Angela); her nephews, Lucus
13Schnake and Derrick Schnake; her niece, Abby Schnake; and many
14aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we mourn the passing of Vickie Niederhofer, and we extend our
18sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
19and loved her; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Vickie Niederhofer as an expression
22of our deepest sympathy.
