HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to recognize a century of
4publication of the Ramsey News-Journal by the Mueller family;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Ramsey News-Journal was purchased by the
7Mueller Family on April 15, 1912, by Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
8Mueller; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Ramsey News-Journal has been a family affair
10since 1912; Charles Mueller, the first-born son of Julius and
11Edna, worked with his father until 1933; Robert Julius Mueller,
12the second son, joined the paper permanently upon the departure
13of Charles; at times, both Edna and Evelyn (Robert's wife)
14worked at the News-Journal; in 1965, J. H. was presented with
15the Golden Make-Up Rule for more than 50 years of service to
16the public at the centennial meeting of the Illinois Press
17Association in Springfield; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Ramsey News-Journal is in its third location-a
192 story building on Superior Street, which was purchased in
20early 1940; prior to that it was located at the corner of West
215th and South Front Street, just east of the I.C.R.R. in the
22east room of the People's State Bank Building; its original

1location burned in 1905; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The current building, known as the "Odd Fellows"
3building, built in 1894, at one time housed numerous
4businesses, but is now entirely Mueller owned; the second floor
5was purchased in 1962 at the very first Community Sale; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Ramsey News-Journal is currently under the
7guidance of third-generation publisher, B.J. Mueller;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate the Mueller family on owning and operating the
12Ramsey News-Journal for the past 100 years; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That s suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the Mueller family as an expression of our esteem
15and respect.
