HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert D.
4Reese of Tuscola, who passed away on October 9, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Reese was born on April 28, 1962, at Scott
6Air Force Base to Robert L. and Mary E. (Smith) Reese; he
7married Pamela M. Berner on May 24, 1997, in Jamaica; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Reese began his broadcasting career as an
9on-air personality at various radio stations in central
10Illinois; he worked as a meteorologist and news anchor for
11WAND-TV in Decatur; he joined WCIA 3 in 1998, and served as the
12station's chief meteorologist for nearly 4 years; he reported
13weather for WBGL and other radio stations in central Illinois;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Robert Reese worked as a police officer in Kansas,
16Illinois, prior to his television weather career; he attended
17Eastern Illinois University and graduated from the broadcast
18meteorology program at Mississippi State University; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Reese had a passion for all things related
20to music, airplanes, and cars; he enjoyed meeting new people
21and watching Animal Planet; he was known for his offbeat sense

1of humor and his zeal for zombies and horror movies; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Robert Reese spent many weekends volunteering
3with numerous charities throughout central Illinois; he hosted
4the MDA Labor Day telethon and the MDA summer camp; he served
5on the Mid-Illinois Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board of
6Directors, for which he received the 1998 Volunteer of the Year
7Award; he volunteered for the Douglas County Emergency Services
8and Disaster Agency, and he could be found emceeing charitable
9events for cancer survivors; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Reese was preceded in death by his father,
11Robert L. Reese; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Reese is survived by his wife, Pamela; his
13children, Rachel Kerr and Matthew, Michelle, and Michael Reese;
14his grandchildren, Alexandra and Dallas Kerr; his mother, Mary
15Reese; his sisters, Madeline Reese and Vanessa Reese; his
16aunts, uncles, and cousins in Central Illinois and England; and
17numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws near Chicago; therefore,
18be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we mourn the passing of Robert Reese, and we extend our sincere
22condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
