HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mayor Joseph Dupar
4on the occasion of his retirement and to honor his years of
5dedicated service to the Village of Calumet Park; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mayor Dupar and his wife, Betty, have lived in
7Calumet Park for 27 years; he has been supportive of social
8programs in the community for seniors and youths; he is a
9member of Southlawn United Methodist Church and has served as
10the chairman of the trustee board for the past 8 years; he
11worked for the Xerox Corporation for 30 years, 25 of which were
12in management; he is a Vietnam Veteran; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mayor Dupar has been a part of many professional
14organizations and affiliations, including board member of
15Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, ABJ Community
16Services, No-Dope Express, Inc., board chairman for Probation
17Challenge, Inc., and community coordinator for the Xerox
18Foundation in the Chicagoland area; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mayor Dupar served on the Community Relations
20Commission in the Village of Calumet Park for 3 years; he was
21village trustee for 11 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Mayor Dupar was appointed mayor on April 1, 2008,
2upon the retirement of former mayor Buster Porch; he was
3elected mayor of Calumet Park on on April 7, 2009; he has
4brought new business to the area, improved the local schools,
5expanded summer job opportunities for youth, and fostered
6infrastructure improvements; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The celebration of Mayor Dupar's retirement and
8the honoring of his service to Calumet Park will take place on
9Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Calumet Township Community
10Center; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate Mayor Dupar on his retirement and thank him for
14his service to the Village of Calumet Park; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Mayor Dupar as an expression of our esteem and
17respect.
