3Representatives wish to congratulate the Goreville Lady Cats
4softball team on winning the Class 1A state championship on
5June 2, 2012, in East Peoria; and

6    WHEREAS, Sydnee Rushing tossed a two-hit shutout, and the
7Lady Cats defeated Payson-Seymour, 6-0, to claim their first

10pushed across four runs in the second inning, and that was
11plenty of support for Rushing, who struck out 13 batters; and

12    WHEREAS, Ashlee Webb reached base on an error, allowing
13Haley Darnell to score the first run of the game; Rushing
14followed with a two-run single to center, and Shelby Miller
15smoked a run-scoring double as well; Taylor Odom blasted her
1624th homer over the left field fence in the fifth inning to add
17to her single-season state record; and

18    WHEREAS, The Lady Cats state championship was the crowning
19achievement in coach Shanna Massey's seven-year career at
20Goreville; they had to deal with the pressure of being the
21favorite all season, and they delivered with a 35-4 record; and
