HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Betty Houston on
4the occasion of her retirement after 44 years of service with
5the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Betty Houston was hired as the 3rd employee of the
7Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board in 1968 as a clerk
8stenographer; she has served in several accounting and
9executive positions during her time with the Board; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Betty Houston was an instrumental employee with
11the Board when it developed a standard basic training program
12for all police officers within the State and has signed off on
13the certification of over 100,000 officers during her tenure;
14she has contributed to several major advancements at the Board
15over the years, including the development of a computerized
16database of all police officers in the State, as well as
17Internet-based tactical training programs; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Betty Houston has enjoyed several elements of her
19job and made numerous friends assisting local government
20administrations process reimbursement claims, while treating
21everyone with a balance of personal and professional respect;
22her coworkers from the office have also become close personal

1friends, with whom she collaborated to enter several trees in
2the Memorial Hospital Festival of Trees, winning the Chairman's
3Award in 2009; she has also competed in the Abe's Amble 10K
4race, in which she finished with a faster time than the Board's
5Director in 2010; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Betty Houston plans to enjoy her retirement by
7spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Betty Houston serves as a model of hard work,
10integrity, teamwork, and dedication to the people of the State
11of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Betty Huston on the occasion of her retirement,
15thank her for her service to the citizens and law enforcement
16of this State, and wish her many happy and healthy retirement
17years; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Betty Houston as a symbol of our esteem and
20respect.
