HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are honored to recognize and join together in
4celebrating the life and legacy of Victoria Earlene Burten
5Jefferson; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Victoria Earlene Burten was born on November 24,
71921, in Waco, Texas, to Alex Joshua Burten and Zollie Mae; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Victoria Burten married Lee Andrew Jefferson on
9January 15, 1938; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mrs. Jefferson was the proud mother of eleven
11children, Lee A. Jr., Joyce A., Robert E., Charles E., Kenneth
12J., Linda L., Frank J., Dorthy S., Patsy J., Amie S., and Karen
13R.; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mrs. Jefferson passed away in Rockford, on
15December 30, 2003; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mrs. Jefferson is remembered by all to be a very
17loving mother to her children and all of the children of the
18neighborhood, and devoted to her church, Greater Calvary in
19Rockford, where her son, Frank, serves as pastor; therefore, be

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we remember and honor Victoria Earlene Burten Jefferson on May
412, 2012 in Rockford, where her son, Illinois State
5Representative Chuck Jefferson, will hold a special Mothers'
6Day Luncheon to celebrate her life and legacy; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Victoria Earlene Burten Jefferson as
10a symbol of esteem and respect.
