HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Vic Boblett on his
4retirement as Head Football Coach at Rock Island High School;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, He has spent 36 years in coaching, 25 as a head
7coach and 21 years as coach at Rock Island, with his teams
8winning a total of 206 games; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He is a graduate of J.D. Darnall High School in
10Geneseo; he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education
11and his Masters degree in Education from the University of
12Illinois; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He began coaching at Rock Island High School in
141991; he led the Rocks to 11 Western Big Six Conference titles,
1516 State playoff appearances, and 3 State final four
16appearances, including a spot in the 1997 State championship
17game; and
 
18    WHEREAS, His positive influence is noted with his creation
19of the "Little Rocks", a football program for fifth and sixth
20grade youth; the 7-on-7 summer football program, an offshoot of
21the "Little Rocks" program, now serves a dozen area schools; he

1also organized and manages the Fellowship of Christian Athletes
2program at Rock Island High School and has personally funded
3several events and activities for the organization; and
 
4    WHEREAS, He will enjoy his retirement alongside his wife,
5Chris; and his children, Doug and Katie; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we congratulate Vic Boblett on his retirement and wish him well
9in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Vic Boblett as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
