HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jay Paul
4Adams of Zion, who passed away on March 20, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born February 15, 1959 in Fort Worth, Texas
6to Robert and Olivia Adams; although he accepted Christ at an
7early age, he recently rededicated his life back to the Lord
8and was a member of Jesus Name Apostolic Church; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He and his family made Waukegan their home in
101970, where he attended Waukegan East High School and graduated
11with the class of 1979; while in high school, he was a member
12of the football and wrestling teams and made several lifelong
13friendships; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He had a passion for cooking and made a career in
15the culinary arts field; he was a long time employee for Great
16Lakes Naval Base and held the position of Assistant Director at
17Galley 535; from there he continued on as one of the head chefs
18for Abbott Laboratories where he remained employed until his
19passing; he was also a partner in the J & M Catering Co., which
20he co-founded with Michael Herring in 2004; and
 
21    WHEREAS, He was a kind, loving, and gentle man that loved

1the Lord; he was well known in the community and will always be
2remembered for his positive outlook on life, his willingness to
3help others, his big heart, and his integrity; he had a passion
4for helping others, which extended to his strong commitment to
5the Oxford Houses, where he served as treasurer for 13 years;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his adoring mother,
8Olivia Adams; his stepmother, Velma Adams; his brothers, Robert
9Adams, Jr., James Adams, and Joseph Adams; and his special
10brothers-in-law, Robert L. Strowder and Stanley Duffie; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jay Paul Adams is survived by his wife, Odessa;
12his children, Joslynn Adams and Terrell White; his father,
13Robert Adams Sr.; his sisters, Dinah (Jimmie) Betts, Lorraine
14Duffie, and Corrie Adams; his brother, Robert (Minnie) Adams
15III; his stepsisters, Darcy Stevenson, Clydie Myers, and Alicia
16(James) Harris; his stepbrothers, Leonard Irby, Robert
17Catchings, Paul Catchings, and James Catchings; his
18sister-in-law, Nanette Adams; and a host of loving nieces,
19nephews, friends, and 7 stepchildren; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Jay
23Paul Adams; and be it further

2presented to the family of Jay Paul Adams as a symbol of our
3sincere sympathy.
