HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Athletic trainers have a long history of providing
3quality health care for athletes and those engaged in physical
4activity based on specific tasks, knowledge, and skills
5acquired through their nationally-regulated educational
6processes; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Athletic trainers provide injury prevention
8services, recognition, evaluation, and aggressive treatment,
9rehabilitation, health care administration, education, and
10guidance; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The National Athletic Trainers' Association
12represents and supports 35,000 members of the athletic training
13profession employed in professional sports, colleges and
14universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals, corporate
15and industrial settings, and branches of the military; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Leading organizations concerned with athletic
17training and health care have joined together in a common
18desire to raise public awareness of the importance of the
19athletic training profession and to emphasize the importance of
20quality health care within the aforementioned settings; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Such an effort will improve health care for

2athletic trainers as health professionals; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we designate March of 2012 as Athletic Training Month in the
6State of Illinois; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association as a
9symbol of our esteem and respect.
